About the Role
Places for People, a leading housing provider in the UK and recognized among the Top 50 Best Workplaces, is looking to hire a qualified Joiner for permanent, local work based in Wakefield. The role involves supporting the community by undertaking joinery tasks that improve customers' homes and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct joinery installations and repairs in domestic settings
- Work on doors, kitchens, flooring, and other internal fixtures
- Adhere to specifications, reports, and quality standards
- Safeguard customers' homes and possessions during work
- Collaborate with supervisors, schedulers, and team members to ensure deadlines are met
- Maintain records of work activities and complete relevant documentation
- Support apprentices and assist in achieving team performance indicators
Typical Workday
- Follow a pre-planned schedule focusing on repairs and maintenance
- Travel between assignments using the company van
- Work independently or collaboratively with other tradespeople
- Engage with customers directly within their homes
- Complete tasks efficiently while upholding quality and compliance standards
Work Environment
- Work in occupied homes as well as vacant (void) properties
- Service a range of domestic properties within the assigned local area
- Operate in environments that may involve vulnerable customers
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Joinery
- Proven experience as a joiner, preferably in social housing or domestic property maintenance
- Valid full UK driving license
- Residence within the Wakefield (WF) postcode area
Desirable Attributes
- Experience in multiple trades
- Basic IT skills or willingness to learn digital technologies and systems
Additional Information
The recruitment process includes a Basic DBS check and may require travel to surrounding areas. An induction program will be provided upon joining, covering company systems and operational procedures.
