Position Overview

Join a rapidly growing team as a Java Backend Software Developer based in Maynooth, County Kildare, Ireland. This permanent role offers a hybrid work model requiring 2-3 days in the office weekly with an annual salary ranging from €45,000 to €65,000 plus company benefits. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, design, and maintain robust Java backend applications.
• Create new features and enhance existing software solutions.
• Analyze both technical and business requirements to produce solid software designs.
• Build scalable microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Uphold high-quality standards through unit testing, peer reviews, and continuous process improvements.
• Own specific software modules ensuring smooth integration with broader systems.
• Address troubleshooting, bug resolution, and optimize performance.
• Engage with Agile teams, participating in sprint planning, estimations, and deliveries.
• Collaborate with colleagues in Ireland and Germany to deliver innovative solutions.

• Java (JDK 8 and above)
• Spring Boot framework
• Hibernate and Spring Data for persistence

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred
• Experience in enterprise application development using Java/J2EE
• Proficient in Core Java programming
• Hands-on experience developing microservices and REST APIs with Spring Boot
• Strong knowledge of Hibernate and Spring Data frameworks
• Understanding of object-oriented design and software engineering best practices
• Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, or DB2
• Familiarity with Agile methodology
• Knowledge of continuous integration and deployment practices
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills and teamwork orientation
• Fluent in both spoken and written English

Desirable Experience

• Working with containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools, e.g. Grafana and Loki
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
• Previous exposure to real-time, mission-critical, or transportation-related systems
