Currently in a rapid expansion phase following a $190 million Series C funding round, Blackpoint Cyber is scaling its operations significantly.
Role Overview
As an IT Support Engineer at Blackpoint Cyber, you will be essential in maintaining the IT infrastructure that supports the entire organization's activities. This hands-on role centers around supporting a modern, cloud-enabled environment including endpoint devices, identity management, SaaS platforms, and automation tools to ensure the distributed workforce remains efficient, secure, and connected.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced technical support for laptops and SaaS applications, addressing availability and identity-related challenges.
- Manage employee onboarding and offboarding, including device provisioning and access control, with an aim toward developing self-sufficient systems that minimize direct IT intervention.
- Oversee hardware assets, warranties, and refresh cycles via Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms such as Microsoft Intune and Jamf.
- Lead automation and scripting initiatives from conception to deployment to enhance operational efficiency and consistency.
- Administer and continuously improve secure access mechanisms involving technologies like Microsoft Entra, Auth0, AWS VPN, and 1Password.
- Create and maintain comprehensive operational documentation and playbooks for all processes and automation efforts.
- Record work activities, incidents, and system changes using Jira Service Management.
- Function as a tier escalation point within the team and develop documented resolutions to prevent recurring escalations.
- Identify recurring issues to recommend process improvements that enhance team workflows.
Work Environment and Culture
- Operate within a remote-first, globally distributed team with colleagues around the world.
- Join a small, visible team where your contributions significantly impact outcomes.
- Enjoy a primarily daytime-focused work schedule with occasional after-hours support responsibilities.
- Access clear communication channels such as email, online forms, and Microsoft Teams for assistance.
- Gain exposure to cutting-edge tools and ample opportunity for professional growth.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Ready to assume ownership beyond basic entry-level support duties.
- Adaptable and comfortable navigating multiple technologies and toolsets.
- A self-reliant problem solver with a proactive approach.
- An effective communicator who prioritizes service quality.
- Continuously seeks opportunities to optimize processes.
- Thrives in a remote work environment with accountability and autonomy.
Qualifications
- At least six years of IT experience, including a minimum of three years in systems administration.
- Proficient in supporting both macOS and Windows operating systems.
- Practical experience managing Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory/Entra ID, along with familiarity in collaboration tools such as Slack, Google Workspace, and Zoom.
- Knowledgeable in Identity and Access Management (IAM) principles including Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), Privileged Access Management (PAM) / Just-In-Time (JIT) access, and Identity Providers (IdP).
- Competent in using MDM platforms and experienced in scripting languages such as PowerShell, shell scripting, and/or Python.
- Experience with ticketing systems and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools.
- Familiarity with the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework.
- A demonstrated history of delivering appreciated support services.
