About Partners In Health
Partners In Health (PIH) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to improving healthcare access and quality for impoverished and marginalized populations globally. PIH collaborates with local governments to strengthen health systems, train healthcare workers, conduct research, and advocate for health policy reform. The organization has operational programs in multiple countries including Sierra Leone, where it supports the Ministry of Health and Sanitation to build resilient and comprehensive healthcare services, especially post-Ebola crisis.
Location
This position is based in Freetown, with responsibilities also covering Lakka Government Hospital, Kissy Psychiatric Hospital, and King Harman Government Hospital (KGH) in Sierra Leone.
Position Summary
The IT Officer will be a key member of the IT team, reporting to the IT Manager, and working alongside the Senior IT Officer. This role involves daily management and maintenance of network infrastructure and computer systems across multiple healthcare sites. Responsibilities include installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and ensuring the proper operation of IT resources. The officer will participate in maintaining an accurate IT inventory and collaborate on network improvements and user support.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver first-line technical assistance and support to end users, resolving day-to-day IT issues.
- Help users access systems and services effectively and efficiently.
- Diagnose and fix hardware, software, and peripheral problems, escalating complex issues when necessary.
- Assist with deploying new technologies, network equipment, and upgrades to enhance infrastructure availability and performance.
- Maintain accurate IT equipment and software records in partnership with the IT team, ensuring compliance with policies.
- Train colleagues on IT features and services to improve their technical competencies based on observed needs.
- Create, update, and distribute documentation to support problem resolution and user guidance.
- Prepare monthly reports including IT activities, incident tracking, and unresolved service requests.
- Perform additional tasks relevant to the role as assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- Between 3 to 5 years of experience in IT operations with advanced knowledge in network systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Experience in designing and managing local area networks (LANs), wireless LANs (WLANs), and virtual LANs (VLANs).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as SharePoint, Office365, Microsoft Intune, and Serenic is advantageous.
- Knowledge of network management and monitoring tools like Cisco Meraki and Ubiquiti UniFi is preferred.
- Experience with Jira ticketing system strongly favored.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
