About the Role

Become a vital part of Pearson TQ as an Invigilator, helping learners confidently complete Functional Skills assessments in English and Mathematics at the Defence School of Transport in Normandy Barracks, Leconfield. You will ensure learners feel calm, supported, and reassured throughout the examination experience while upholding the fairness and integrity of the assessment procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and supervise all learners during assessments, exams, and online learning sessions to maintain order and compliance.
  • Prepare and conduct Functional Skills English and Mathematics assessments, including live, paper-based, and online mock exams.
  • Accurately document examination details such as seating arrangements, supervision reports, and attendance registers.
  • Timely submission of completed exam documentation and paperwork.
  • Ensure strict adherence to JCQ and Awarding Body Instructions for Conducting Examinations (ICE).
  • Administer initial and diagnostic assessments for learners.
  • Support Functional Skills Tutors by setting up assessments and providing completed work for marking.
  • Manage and invigilate supervised online learning and apprentices’ online assessments, printing results as needed.
  • Keep detailed daily records of learner attendance and achievement; report absences promptly.
  • Engage in professional development activities to maintain and improve invigilation practices.

Candidate Profile

  • Strong organisational and administrative capabilities with effective relationship management skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Functional Skills qualifications.
  • Proficiency in IT including managing online assessments.
  • Ability to foster an inclusive learning environment promoting opportunity for all learners.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work variable hours, including evenings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A cooperative team player with adaptability and enthusiasm.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant qualifications in Functional Skills, Key Skills, or Skills for Life.
  • Familiarity with Apprenticeships and their delivery processes.
  • Previous experience invigilating examinations or assessments.
  • Experience working in educational settings or with military personnel.
