Job description
About the Role
We are seeking an Inventory and Cost Manager or Assistant Manager for a manufacturing unit of a rapidly expanding direct-to-consumer nutrition brand. The core responsibility is to ensure accurate inventory tracking and correct calculation of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) within a clean-label, third-party tested manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining precise records of inventory movements and performing cycle counts to reconcile physical stock against books.
- Managing month-end inventory valuation, ageing, and provisioning processes.
- Building a COGS structure that aligns accurately with accounting records.
- Conducting product and batch-level costing, comparing Bill of Materials (BOM) against actual consumption, performing variance analyses, and identifying potential cost leakages early to prevent recurring issues.
- Engaging closely with both the stores and shop floor operations, not just performing spreadsheet analysis.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years experience in inventory accounting or costing within manufacturing or FMCG sectors.
- Hands-on experience conducting stock counts and reconciliations rather than solely reviewing reports.
- Proficiency in the accounting software Tally is essential, with direct operational experience.
- Qualifications such as CMA or CA are advantageous but not mandatory.
Additional Information
The role offers substantial ownership from day one in a fast-growing early-stage company based in Ambernath, Mumbai. The seniority and title will be determined based on the candidate's capabilities and experience.
