Role Overview

The Internal Audit team plays a pivotal role by collaborating closely with Risk and Compliance units to establish and ensure the effectiveness of internal risk and compliance frameworks. The team is currently seeking a driven Internal Auditor specializing in financial crime to support regulatory audits. The role involves conducting internal audits and expanding expertise into new areas as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement audit plans aligned with internal policies, regulatory mandates, and professional auditing standards.
  • Utilize data analytics to deepen risk evaluation and generate actionable insights during audit procedures.
  • Assist in pinpointing pertinent risks and regulatory considerations to define audit scopes effectively.
  • Engage with organizational personnel to gain comprehensive knowledge of potential risks, controls, and operational processes.
  • Present and discuss audit findings with management teams of various business units directly.
  • Prepare audit documentation that highlights deficiencies and root causes while suggesting valuable improvement recommendations.
  • Undertake research and complete required training to maintain professional competency.
  • Collaborate with business units to recommend enhancements to processes, internal controls, and compliance measures.
  • Conduct follow-up audits to check on previously identified issues and their resolution.
  • Track audit timelines, manage audit projects through completion, and escalate concerns as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in audit roles within regulated financial services industries.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory standards including EU anti-money laundering directives, JMLSG, and FATF guidelines.
  • Knowledge of financial crime preventative controls such as KYC/KYB, due diligence processes, transaction monitoring, and sanctions screening.
  • Demonstrated eagerness to develop professionally and contribute immediately within a growing team.

Preferred but Not Required

  • Experience working in fast-moving environments with a strong emphasis on execution.
  • Academic credentials including an undergraduate or master’s degree in a quantitative field.
  • Skills in data manipulation and analysis using SQL, SAS, or Python.
