Team Overview

Mathisha (Tish) Panagoda, a partner in our insurance division, leads within the national Institutional Risk and Liability group. His expertise covers child safety, general liability, civil and National Redress Scheme historical child abuse claims management, and advising organizations on child protection strategies and sensitive investigations.

Role Summary

We are seeking an Insurance Solicitor or Associate to contribute to a dynamic and supportive team environment. Responsibilities include:

• Providing sound legal counsel to clients
• Staying abreast of case law updates and legislative developments
• Performing legal research and delivering precise, commercially aware advice
• Handling a substantial workload with effective prioritization
• Understanding client business operations and strategic goals
• Developing client relationships and managing prospective engagements
• Collaborating closely with team members
• Continuously updating professional skills and fulfilling MCLE requirements
• Performing duties across Sydney and Melbourne offices, spanning multiple jurisdictions
• Engaging in policy-related work beyond claims management

Candidate Profile

• Possessing between 2 and 5 years post-qualification experience
• Eagerness to actively participate as a member of a cohesive, collaborative team
• Proficient in managing extensive document volumes
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and research capabilities
• Experience with business development and building robust client relations
• Adept at managing client expectations and meeting deadlines
• Desire to build a long-term career with the firm
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, able to engage across all organisational levels
• Strong commitment to meeting turnaround times
• Commercial awareness with practical problem-solving abilities
• Clear, straightforward communication style
• Working knowledge of managing claims within NSW and VIC jurisdictions
