Instructional Assistant/Associate Professor - Computer Engineering

Position Overview

The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECEN) program at Texas A&M University at Qatar invites qualified candidates to apply for a full-time, non-tenure track academic professional position focused on computer engineering. Appointments will be at the rank of Instructional Assistant Professor or Instructional Associate Professor based on qualifications, with a 9-month academic term starting Summer or Fall 2024.

This role primarily involves teaching and service duties without research obligations. The successful candidate is expected to manage a 3-3 teaching load during fall and spring semesters and deliver two summer courses for additional compensation. Teaching responsibilities include courses in Electrical and Computer Engineering, with a strong preference for expertise in computer engineering and programming. Potential course offerings such as iOS and Android app development, machine learning programming, and computer networks are advantageous.

Qualifications and Expertise

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering at the time of hire. Candidates should demonstrate a dedication to undergraduate teaching excellence and service contributions. Strong programming skills in Python, C, C++, Java, VHDL, or Verilog are required, alongside the ability to teach subjects including Python, C, programming and computer architecture, digital systems design, and microprocessor systems design. Experience with PLAs, ARM Cortex-M, embedded microprocessors, and computer architecture is essential. Familiarity with the U.S. higher education system and prior teaching excellence at reputable institutions are preferred.
