Role Overview
The Insights Manager will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the SuperValu brand by delivering deep customer understanding and actionable insights to support strategic business decisions. This role involves transforming customer, shopper, market, and competitor intelligence into clear recommendations that drive business growth and customer relevance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead efforts to gain comprehensive customer understanding for SuperValu.
- Identify emerging customer needs, behaviors, and occasions that present growth opportunities.
- Create actionable mission frameworks that guide business strategies.
- Translate insight into clear business implications and recommendations.
- Promote customer-centric thinking across SuperValu teams.
- Design and manage both qualitative and quantitative research initiatives.
- Commission and oversee research agencies to ensure high-quality insight delivery.
- Ensure research findings lead to tangible business actions rather than just reporting.
- Develop research plans aligned with strategic and commercial priorities.
- Monitor market trends, category performance, and competitor activities.
- Analyze external data sources like Kantar, NielsenIQ, Bord Bia, and industry reports.
- Identify growth opportunities and risks affecting SuperValu's future.
- Prepare regular market update reports for leadership teams.
- Convert complex data into compelling stories that guide decision-making.
- Deliver insightful presentations to senior and executive leaders.
- Create summaries for board-level review focusing on opportunities, risks, and priorities.
- Ensure insights are understandable, actionable, and aligned with commercial goals.
- Forge strong relationships across Marketing, Retail, Trading, Own Brand, Loyalty, and Digital teams.
- Influence senior stakeholders using evidence-based recommendations.
- Facilitate workshops and collaborative problem-solving sessions.
- Serve as a trusted strategic partner throughout the SuperValu business.
Candidate Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in consumer insights, customer research, strategy, or a related field.
- Proven expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
- Experience managing research agencies and external collaborators.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
- Excellent storytelling and presentation skills to engage leadership.
- Proficiency in stakeholder management and influencing senior-level decision-makers.
- Commercially minded with ability to link consumer insights to business outcomes.
