Role Overview

The Injury Claims Handler will manage Injury or Liability insurance claims by applying established claims procedures to ensure accurate case reserving, equitable settlements, and alignment with business goals. Based primarily in Galway, this position involves assessing claims details, executing strategies for resolution, maintaining client communications, and coordinating with external suppliers to conclude cases efficiently.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain and reserve a portfolio of injury claims consistent with company methodology.
• Drive claims settlements within authorized limits, adhering to procedures and guidelines.
• Escalate claims beyond personal authority promptly following established referral processes.
• Evaluate claims to identify issues, engage relevant stakeholders to minimize losses and protect company interests.
• Manage interactions with clients courteously and promptly to ensure high customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate with approved internal and external service providers to expedite claim resolutions.
• Mentor junior colleagues to enhance team expertise and quality standards.
• Contribute to research and development of new products and propositions that align with claims management.
• Support the Portfolio, Sales, and Marketing teams by recommending improvements in policy wording and assisting during client reviews.
• Operate strictly within individual claims handling licensing boundaries.
• Strive to achieve departmental targets for direct settlements, injury board acceptance, and compliance diagnostics.
• Identify and pursue opportunities for profitable business growth through participation in new business initiatives.
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and market agreements.
• Adhere consistently to established Claims Best Practices.

Candidate Requirements

• Preferably holding CIP/ACII or other recognized professional insurance qualifications.
• Two to three years of hands-on experience managing Injury and Liability claims.
• Familiarity with the local insurance market and regulatory environment.
• Ability to work strictly within own claims handling license limitations.
• Experience delivering customer service within the financial services sector.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Regulatory and Compliance

• Preference for candidates holding or actively pursuing APA/CIP qualifications.
• This position is classified as a "controlled function" under the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 Regulations 2011; employment is contingent upon meeting the Fitness & Probity standards specified therein.
