Role Overview
The Infrastructure Lead is a senior technical leader who owns the overall infrastructure strategy, platform architecture, and technology roadmap. This position manages the infrastructure team both strategically and hands-on while ensuring high standards for platform stability, security, cost management, and business continuity, leveraging modern DevSecOps methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the infrastructure strategy and technology roadmap in line with company goals.
- Oversee infrastructure cost controls, capacity planning, and change management via Infrastructure as Code (IaC) across all environments.
- Document and maintain infrastructure governance to comply with ISO 27001:2022 certification requirements.
- Build and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools, including networking setup, secrets management, and certificate lifecycle administration.
- Ensure production environment reliability by managing Kubernetes clusters and performing patch management within agreed SLAs.
- Lead and mentor the infrastructure team as a hands-on player-manager, including providing guidance to senior engineers and covering on-call responsibilities.
- Manage external infrastructure service providers, monitoring SLA compliance and performance.
- Establish and maintain disaster recovery (DR) plans, ensuring documentation, testing, and evidence to support ISO 27001:2022 audit processes.
- Work closely with Business Continuity Management (BCM) teams on Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and produce records of DR testing.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations to support incident response and infrastructure stability.
Required Experience and Skills
- Over a decade of hands-on experience in infrastructure or platform engineering, with a minimum of three years in leadership roles.
- Proven track record managing production infrastructure, including 24x7 incident response and disaster recovery implementation.
- Hands-on experience designing and administering DR and BCP programs.
- Experience overseeing third-party infrastructure vendors and familiarity with ISO 27001:2022 standards.
- Preferably experienced in regulated sectors such as financial services, with knowledge of hybrid or on-premises infrastructure preferred.
- Technical proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), infrastructure as code tools like Terraform, network configuration (LAN/WAN, VPC, firewalls, DNS, TLS certificate lifecycle), Kubernetes orchestration, and CI/CD pipeline infrastructure.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices including GitOps workflows, governance of infrastructure-as-code, and platform engineering best practices.
- Expertise in monitoring, alerting, and managing on-call incident response in 24/7 environments.
- Skills in secrets management, patching, and large-scale configuration management.
Educational Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Certifications in major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) are strongly preferred. Additional credentials such as ITIL or TOGAF are advantageous.
