Job description

Overview

The IT Supervisor role is responsible for managing the daily IT functions at the Kapeeka factory in Nakaseke District, Uganda. The position ensures a dependable, secure, and effective IT infrastructure and services are maintained to support various business operations including production, administration, finance, HR, warehouse, and more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT infrastructure such as LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Monitor network performance and resolve connectivity issues, ensuring reliable internet access throughout office, factory, and warehouse locations.
  • Provide daily technical support to factory employees, including setup and maintenance of computers, printers, servers, and other peripherals.
  • Support users with ERP, particularly SAP systems, by handling first-level user support and coordinating escalations.
  • Implement and enforce IT security measures, manage access controls, and monitor for unauthorized access or cyber threats.
  • Provide technical assistance for CCTV and access control systems, ensuring equipment operational status and coordinating maintenance with security staff and vendors.
  • Facilitate data backup routines, monitor backups, assist in data recovery, and safeguard company data.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on IT assets and coordinate repairs with vendors.
  • Participate in IT setup for new factory facilities, collaborating with cross-functional teams for infrastructure deployment including network, security, and digital systems.
  • Manage relationships with IT vendors, monitor service quality, procure equipment, and ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Maintain thorough documentation related to IT assets, user accounts, licenses, incidents, maintenance, vendors, and projects, and prepare regular status reports.
  • Supervise local IT support personnel, assign tasks, provide coaching, and uphold quality customer service standards within the IT team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
  • Professional IT certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA, Microsoft, Fortinet, Cisco) are advantageous.
  • Strong hardware, networking, and IT infrastructure knowledge.
  • Familiarity with Windows OS, Microsoft Office, and ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Experience with CCTV, access control, and security technologies is a plus.

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant IT experience, ideally within manufacturing, logistics, or industrial settings.
  • 1 to 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
  • Proven track record supporting multiple departments in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Hands-on experience managing networks, IT infrastructure, and vendor relations.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in LAN/WAN and Wi-Fi setup and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledgeable in TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and network administration.
  • Experienced with router, switch, firewall management and Windows desktop/server support.
  • Skilled in Microsoft 365 and Office applications.
  • Competent in hardware troubleshooting, user access management, cybersecurity basics, IT asset and license management.
  • Familiar with CCTV and access control systems, backup procedures, ERP/SAP user support, and incident management.
