Job description

About the Role

We are working with a growing IT Managed Service Provider based in Telford/Wolverhampton seeking an Account Manager to manage and nurture an established portfolio of clients. This role focuses on farming existing relationships rather than acquiring new customers through cold calling. The primary goal is to maintain, grow, and develop long-term partnerships by becoming a trusted technology advisor and identifying genuine opportunities for additional services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of existing customers, building robust and enduring relationships.
  • Conduct regular account reviews and customer meetings to understand client business and technology needs.
  • Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling within the accounts served.
  • Oversee contract renewals and maximize client retention rates.
  • Enhance account value by introducing additional technology and managed services solutions.
  • Engage with multiple stakeholders within each client to deepen relationships.
  • Collaborate with technical and service teams to ensure exceptional service delivery.
  • Handle proposals, quotations, and commercial discussions proficiently.
  • Maintain detailed account plans, track opportunities, and manage sales forecasts within the CRM system.

Ideal Background and Skills

  • Proven experience managing and developing existing customer accounts in the technology space.
  • Backgrounds considered include SaaS, software, IT services, cloud, cybersecurity, technology vendors, and managed services.
  • A true farmer mentality with a strong focus on relationship-building and account growth.
  • Experience working with mid-market or mid-cap customers and handling relevant deal sizes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to build credibility without transactional sales tactics.
  • Commercial acumen to identify and leverage growth opportunities.
  • Track record in renewals, retention, upselling, and cross-selling.

Compensation and Package

  • Base salary up to £40,000 per annum.
  • Bonus potential up to £10,000 annually.
  • Established customer portfolio ownership.
  • Relationship-focused role avoiding high-volume cold calling.

Additional Information

The company is flexible regarding prior experience; direct MSP background is not mandatory. Suitable candidates might currently hold roles such as Account Manager, Customer Success Manager, Client Manager, Relationship Manager, or Internal Account Manager seeking advancement.
