Overview
The role of Clinical Nurse Instructor and Infection Control Nurse (CNI+ICN) within the nursing department focuses on delivering expert clinical guidance and infection control oversight. Reporting to the Nursing Coordinator, the position demands leadership in nursing education, infection prevention strategies, and fostering multidisciplinary cooperation to enhance patient care.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide clinical instruction and infection control expertise to staff, consultants, patients, and caregivers.
- Oversee educational development and assess clinical competencies of nursing staff, ensuring ongoing proficiency aligned with organizational values and vision.
- Instruct and supervise staff on maternity and neonatal nursing standards based on clinical care levels.
- Evaluate staff’s procedural competencies and administer clinical examinations, maintaining comprehensive records.
- Develop and drive prevention protocols to improve outcomes for patients and healthcare workers.
- Promote innovative thinking through evidence-based practices to enhance patient care quality.
- Ensure consistent nursing and infection control standards are met for optimal care delivery.
- Lead continuing education programs and nursing audits to enhance clinical skills and quality standards.
- Mentor new hires, orienting them to institutional policies and protocols.
- Operate medical equipment and stay current with advancements in maternity and neonatal nursing.
- Participate in recruitment, staff performance discussions, quality improvement, and interdisciplinary meetings.
- Collaborate with consultants to update clinical guidelines and policy documents.
- Provide consultation services to internal and external stakeholders and contribute to community education as required.
- Maintain a safe and sanitized working environment adhering to infection control standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing.
- Minimum of 3 years experience with Master’s or 5 years with Bachelor’s degree in relevant clinical or infection control nursing roles.
