About the Role

As an essential member of our team at Maple Leaf Foods in Port Perry, Ontario, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing production equipment to ensure smooth operations. We are seeking a collaborative individual who takes pride in contributing to a quality-driven environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct regular preventative maintenance and urgent repairs on machinery.
• Efficiently set up, inspect, and shut down production equipment, including managing process changeovers.
• Fabricate parts and repair equipment using standard workshop tools.
• Proficiently perform stainless steel welding, including TIG and arc welding techniques.
• Operate various power truck equipment such as forklifts, counterbalances, reach trucks, and walkie/rider trucks.
• Accurately complete all required documentation and paperwork.
• Deliver work in compliance with all regulatory standards and company policies.
• Follow food safety, health and safety protocols, HACCP guidelines, WHMIS standards, and good manufacturing practices.
• Perform any additional tasks as assigned.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

• Must possess a valid and current Industrial Mechanic/Millwright Certificate.
• Experience handling computers, ensuring accuracy in paperwork, and familiarity with SAP systems.
• Strong communication skills with proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Physically capable of performing duties including lifting weights exceeding 25 kilograms.
• Team-oriented attitude with the ability to adhere to directions and collaborate effectively.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts in a dynamic, fast-paced setting with repetitive tasks.
• Comfortable working under varying temperature conditions and able to stand and walk throughout the shift.
• Highly motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrates urgency, meticulousness, and a strong sense of ownership in work quality.
• Reliable, punctual, and responsible in workplace conduct.
• Possession of a full set of personal tools for the role.
• Experience in a food manufacturing environment is advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting hourly wage is $41.76, with an hourly rate of $39.01 in other communications within the company.
• Standard Monday to Friday work schedule with rotating day and afternoon shifts.
• Opportunities for overtime work.
