Job description

Overview

Join WSP's Sustainable Water Management team as a Senior or Principal Hydrologist, contributing to significant Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP) projects across the UK. This role offers a chance to lead large-scale AMP8 projects for prominent UK water companies, spanning diverse geographies and environmental conditions. Additionally, you will support environmental destination initiatives and hydrology development for WRMPs.

Team and Clients

Work within the Catchment Science team, delivering expertise in water resources, hydrology, hydraulics, water quality, hydroecology, and hydrogeology. Serve high-profile clients including government bodies, the water industry, and various industrial sectors like power, transport, nuclear, mining, commercial, and oil and gas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead hydrology and water management contributions for WRMPs, aligned with recent AMP cycles.
  • Develop and calibrate rainfall runoff models using robust techniques.
  • Apply comprehensive hydrological methods pertinent to water resource management in England and Wales.
  • Engage with demand management and water resources modeling strategies.
  • Stay informed and apply knowledge of current UK water resource management regulations, including Water Resources Planning Guidelines.
  • Evaluate strategies for climate change resilience within water resource contexts.
  • Maintain high-quality assurance standards, producing precise and professional client and regulator deliverables.
  • Communicate effectively through high-quality, concise reporting.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to incorporate hydrological insights into complex projects.

Qualifications & Professional Development

  • Master's degree focused on water-related disciplines (e.g., hydrology & water resources, sustainable water management).
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as physical geography, earth sciences, geology, or civil engineering.
  • Pursuing or holding chartership with an applicable professional body is expected.
