Venues 4tautahi manages several of Christchurch's key venues, including Christchurch Town Hall, Wolfbrook Arena, Hagley Oval, the Air Force Museum of New Zealand, and One New Zealand Stadium. Hosting over 500 events annually, these venues serve as hubs for sport, entertainment, culture, and business, contributing to the social, cultural, and economic vibrancy of Christchurch and the wider Canterbury region. Role Overview
As the Human Resources Manager, you will be pivotal in fostering a positive, inclusive, and values-driven workplace where employees feel supported, connected, and motivated to excel. You will lead strategic and operational HR activities including employment advice, employee and industrial relations, workforce initiatives, organisational change, and governance of HR policies. Working alongside the General Manager, People, and other leaders, you will provide trusted leadership, practical HR solutions, and expert consultation to support a high-performing and collaborative environment during an exciting phase of growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and lead people-centered HR initiatives that align with organisational objectives and enhance the workforce experience.
- Collaborate with leadership to provide practical guidance on employment and industrial relations, change management, and workforce planning.
- Ensure HR practices remain contemporary, compliant, and in line with employment legislation and emerging trends.
- Coach leaders to develop their people management skills, fostering confidence and consistency.
- Develop and maintain fair, equitable remuneration and job evaluation systems to support transparency and career progression.
- Design and implement initiatives to boost employee engagement, wellbeing, retention, and overall job satisfaction.
Candidate Profile
- Possesses relevant tertiary qualifications in human resources, employment relations, business, or a related discipline, or equivalent senior experience in people leadership.
- Demonstrated expertise in employee and industrial relations, including experience with collective bargaining and collaborative engagement with unions, employee representatives, and external advisors.
- Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment law, HR policies, employment agreements, and compliant HR practices.
- Exhibits high levels of judgement, integrity, and discretion when managing sensitive personnel matters.
- Experienced in providing trusted HR advice in fast-paced operational settings.
- Strong relationship-building abilities and confidence engaging with stakeholders at all organisational levels.
- Excellent skills in planning, prioritisation, and project management.
- Understanding of organisational design, change management, and succession planning.
