Job description

Role Summary

This senior HR position within a group structure reports as a key member of the site leadership team, collaborating closely with operational managers. The role involves comprehensive HR responsibility at the primary site while extending support to other locations as needed.

It is a hands-on leadership opportunity within a large unionised, labour-intensive setting. Responsibilities encompass managing recruitment, employee relations, training, engagement, and oversight of health and safety activities for a workforce exceeding 400 staff operating on a daytime single shift.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage and report on site workforce including headcount and attendance systems.
  • Lead recruitment processes from start to finish, including agency management and employee onboarding, ensuring payroll and permit compliance.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers on employee relations and lead disciplinary and grievance proceedings fairly and consistently.
  • Foster positive workplace culture aligned with organizational values and maintain strong union and employee representative relations.
  • Oversee performance management workflows including probation, personal development plans, and training needs with budget management and external coordination.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and deliver regular reports on HR metrics such as turnover and absenteeism.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies, keep policy updates current, and manage pay structures and labor metrics.
  • Collaborate with health and safety teams to uphold a strong safety culture and manage incident tracking and risk mitigation.
  • Support change management and organizational development projects, aligning with corporate HR strategies.
  • Build relationships with site leadership, managers, HR/payroll/trainers, safety teams, recruitment partners, and unions.

Candidate Profile

  • Certified HR qualification with at least 5 years in HR including 3+ years in a management position.
  • Experience in labour-intensive sectors such as manufacturing or logistics, particularly within unionised environments.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Proven ability to coach management and handle multiple priorities in dynamic settings.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills combined with a proactive and improvement-focused mindset.

Additional Details

  • Full-time, on-site position based in County Tipperary with occasional travel to satellite sites.
