Job Overview
The HR Generalist role is based in Surat, Gujarat, within the manufacturing/engineering sector. The position involves overseeing daily HR operations including employee coordination, recruitment supervision, attendance management, documentation, employee relations, and all HR administrative functions. The candidate will be expected to work comfortably in a manufacturing environment interacting with both white-collar and blue-collar staff.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee recruitment processes, ensuring timely closure of open roles, especially for critical and senior positions.
- Source and screen senior candidates via platforms, consultants, and referrals; conduct initial HR interviews and coordinate subsequent technical and management interviews.
- Manage employee onboarding including completion of joining formalities, document collection, orientation, and updating records in ERP/HRMS.
- Monitor daily attendance, manage leave records, address absenteeism and missed punches, and prepare attendance data for payroll.
- Support payroll processing by coordinating accurate attendance and leave inputs; assist with PF, ESIC, PT, and statutory compliance alongside Accounts and external bodies.
- Handle employee relations by addressing queries, supporting grievance and disciplinary processes, and communicating company policies.
- Maintain comprehensive HR documentation such as employee records, appointment and confirmation letters, agreements, warning notices, and ensure confidentiality.
- Coordinate employee lifecycle processes including probation reviews, appraisals, transfers, promotions, increments, resignations, and full & final settlements.
- Prepare regular HR MIS reports tracking recruitment, attendance, manpower, attrition, and employee-related data for management review.
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective coordination and follow-up capabilities.
- Proficient in MS Excel and HRMS/ERP systems.
- Familiarity with payroll, attendance management, and statutory compliances like PF, ESIC, PT.
- Ability to handle employee grievances tactfully.
- Strong documentation and record-keeping proficiency.
- Capability to manage multiple HR tasks simultaneously.
- Experience working effectively within a manufacturing or factory setting.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making aptitude.
Minimum qualification includes an MBA/PGDM in HR, BBA, or equivalent, with at least 3 years of relevant HR experience. Preference will be given to candidates from manufacturing or engineering backgrounds.
