- Engage with procurement teams, engineering units, suppliers, and manufacturers to clarify technical questions and resolve queries.
- Assess vendor drawings and fabrication details for adherence to approved designs considering material specifications, dimensions, weights, and installation parameters.
- Confirm material standards such as grades, thickness, coatings, and surface treatments meet the necessary codes and project specs.
- Ensure procured outfitting elements fit correctly with hull structures and other systems.
- Aid in preparing and reviewing purchase and material requisitions along with essential technical documentation for procurement packages.
- Review deviations or alternative proposals from vendors and liaise with engineers for approval.
- Monitor vendor documentation to guarantee prompt approval stages aligned with project timelines.
- Respond to supplier technical inquiries and coordinate cross-disciplinary engineering clarifications.
- Ensure conformity with marine classification guidelines, industry standards, client demands, and shipbuilding protocols.
- Maintain disciplined records of procurement engineering, including technical evaluations, vendor data, and material specifications.
- Support quality inspections, verification, and timely delivery coordination to fulfill technical and documentation criteria.
- Collaborate with hull structure, machinery outfitting, piping, HVAC, electrical, and production teams to handle procurement-related technical challenges.
- Assist construction and production teams by resolving specification concerns and ensuring the appropriateness of procured parts for installation.
- Deliver procurement engineering outputs within set quality and timeline commitments.
Key Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or allied fields.
- 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in hull outfitting engineering, procurement support, or material acquisition for marine, shipbuilding, or offshore projects.
- Demonstrated ability to assist procurement of hull outfitting materials and structural outfitting components.
- Proficient in reviewing material specifications, vendor quotes, fabrication plans, and supplier documentation.
- Experienced in conducting technical bid evaluations and preparing compliant supplier assessment documentation.
- Solid understanding of key outfitting parts including doors, ladders, railings, gratings, and access structures.
- Knowledgeable in marine-grade materials, fabrication, corrosion protection, coatings, and interfacing installation standards.
- Competent at interpreting technical drawings, material lists, and vendor documentation for outfitting works.
- Skilled in coordinating with procurement, engineering, suppliers, and manufacturers to address technical issues.
- Familiar with marine classification society rules, relevant shipbuilding standards, and project requirements.
- Awareness of interfacing disciplines such as hull structure, machinery outfitting, piping, HVAC, and electrical engineering.
- Experience with 3D marine design tools especially AVEVA Marine / Hull & Outfitting or similar CAD software is advantageous.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office tools with experience managing procurement documents and vendor databases.
