HSE Team Leader

Overview

The Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Team Leader role is responsible for leading all aspects of safety and environmental programs at an aluminum beverage can manufacturing plant. This position ensures adherence to safety laws and ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 standards to foster a safe workplace, reduce risks from machinery, chemicals, and production processes, and maintain regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain the site’s HSE strategy aligned with corporate goals and regulations.
• Lead and mentor management and staff to cultivate a proactive safety mindset.
• Design and conduct comprehensive health and safety training sessions including new employee inductions and emergency procedures.
• Drive safety awareness through communication campaigns, toolbox talks, and staff engagement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental legislation consistent with ISO standards.
• Monitor safety policy implementation across operations and conduct regular audits.
• Manage occupational hygiene and wellness programs based on legal requirements and risk assessments.
• Establish effective communication channels for EHS matters and oversee safety committees.
• Supervise incident reporting, investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action follow-ups.
• Maintain hazard identification and risk assessment programs for normal and emergency conditions.
• Advance Behavior Based Safety initiatives to promote safe workplace conduct.
• Coordinate safety orientation and continuous education including PPE, fall protection, and equipment safety.
• Collaborate with department leaders to develop and refine procedures mitigating safety risks.
• Identify hazards, perform risk analyses, and implement controls to reduce safety incidents.
• Lead investigations of incidents and near-misses aiming at root cause determination and prevention.
• Develop and enhance safety processes ensuring compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, maintaining accurate documentation for audits.
• Oversee timely completion of preventive and corrective measures from inspections.
• Establish emergency response plans and coordinate with local emergency services.
• Coordinate regulatory compliance activities with various departments.
• Maintain readiness and functionality of fire suppression systems.
• Implement health and wellness initiatives promoting employee well-being.

• Skilled in Job Safety Analyses, Hazard and Operability Studies, and comprehensive risk assessments.
• Ability to design and conduct engaging health and safety training programs for diverse employee levels.
• Competence in development and execution of emergency response plans addressing fire and chemical incidents.
• Experience in overseeing contractor safety performance evaluations.
