HP OpenVMS System Administrator with Immediate Joining

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced HP OpenVMS System Administrator specialized in Itanium platform systems. This role requires expertise in managing complex OpenVMS environments with a strong focus on system upkeep, backup management, and user administration. Candidates should have extensive experience ensuring system availability and performance tuning on OpenVMS systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and maintain OpenVMS operating systems running on Itanium platforms.
• Perform proactive monitoring and maintenance across complex OpenVMS environments.
• Manage system operations including backups, restorations, and user account administration.
• Administer and maintain batch jobs, generic queues, and print queues.
• Tune, configure, troubleshoot, and upgrade OpenVMS operating systems using SYSGEN, SYSMAN, PERFDAT, and Availability Manager tools.
• Manage storage systems and analyze performance, including familiarity with Pure Storage and other SAN technologies.
• Implement and configure OpenVMS security settings and functionalities.
• Install and configure high availability setups and cluster systems for OpenVMS environments.
• Utilize Console Works for OpenVMS system management and HP Virtual Connect for system virtualization where applicable.
• Engage in effective troubleshooting and problem resolution with strong communication skills.

Candidate Requirements

• 6 to 10 years of relevant experience, preferably 7+ years working with OpenVMS on Itanium platforms.
• Advanced knowledge of OpenVMS operating systems and system management tools.
• Fluency in Digital Command Language (DCL); knowledge of Python is advantageous.
• Experience with storage technologies, especially Pure Storage, and familiarity with other SAN solutions.
• Understanding of security configurations and high-availability environments within OpenVMS.
• Familiarity with ITIL practices is a bonus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
• Prior experience using Console Works and HP Virtual Connect is preferred but not mandatory.
• Notice period ranging from immediate to 30 days.
