About the Role
Rise is seeking a dedicated Housing Officer to manage a specialized property portfolio that supports vulnerable tenants involved in programs like the Independent Living Program. These tenants may be living with mental health challenges or transitioning from the Department of Justice. This position is much more than standard property management; it combines tenancy oversight with compassionate, community-oriented support to help clients maintain independence and meet lease obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Effectively oversee a property portfolio, including tenant communications, property inspections, maintenance coordination, and lease administration.
- Provide empathetic support to tenants, addressing queries and sensitive issues with care.
- Collaborate with support workers, case managers, and other stakeholders such as Department of Justice representatives to develop solutions and support tenant needs.
- Adopt a friendly, client-centered, and trauma-informed approach to promote tenant wellbeing.
- Manage rent reviews, payments, and arrears tactfully, ensuring lease agreements are current and compliant.
- Carry out administrative functions including data analysis for reporting and meticulous file organization.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience in housing or property management is highly desirable.
- Strong administrative capabilities, including proficiency with Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Word document merging, letter and report writing, email management, and database navigation.
- Approach situations with sensitivity, calmness, and openness; effectively adapt communication styles to meet diverse client needs.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and show initiative.
- Additional experience working within non-profit environments or with tenants in community services is advantageous.
Position Details
- Full-time role, Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM.
- Based in Middle Swan with required metropolitan community travel.
- Fixed-term employment until 5 February 2027, with opportunities to apply for other positions within Rise afterwards.
- Offers hybrid working options following the initial training and settling-in period.
