Job description
Role Overview
The Housekeeper is essential for maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized environment for residents, staff, and visitors at the facility. This role is focused on ensuring that all areas are free from hazards, unpleasant odors, and debris to support the health and comfort of everyone in care.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and upkeep public spaces such as lobbies, restrooms, drinking fountains, and floors.
- Maintain regular cleaning and sanitization of resident rooms and bathrooms.
- Dust and wipe handrails to remove all dust and debris.
- Remove dirt and food residues from walls, mirrors, windows, lighting fixtures, towel bars, and dispensers.
- Empty trash bins and replace liners as required.
- Sweep and mop floors throughout the facility consistently.
- Adhere to safety standards by using caution signs and securely storing chemicals.
- Use cleaning tools and supplies following manufacturer instructions.
- Keep housekeeping carts, equipment, and storage spaces clean and well-organized.
- Immediately report any safety concerns related to residents to relevant supervisors such as the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing.
- Inform the Director of Housekeeping when cleaning supplies run low.
- Deliver excellent customer service and maintain a positive demeanor.
- Manage workload efficiently to ensure tasks are completed on time.
- Work independently or collaborate with team members to uphold facility cleanliness standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Prior experience in housekeeping within healthcare or long-term care environments is advantageous.
- Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions and safety protocols.
- Strong focus on cleanliness and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in reading and comprehending instruction manuals, procedure guidelines, and schedules.
- Basic arithmetic skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Capability to troubleshoot practical problems and adapt to varied situations with limited standard procedures.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent activities include walking, standing for extended periods, bending, and reaching.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds.
- Perform repetitive motions like sweeping, mopping, and wiping surfaces.
- Operate cleaning equipment and handle supplies throughout the shift.
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting and respond promptly to emerging requirements.
Work Environment
