Housekeeper

About the Role

Bassett Healthcare Network seeks a dedicated Housekeeper to support patient health and safety by maintaining cleanliness within the facility. This role serves as a patient ambassador, ensuring a sanitary environment through effective cleaning and infection control while fostering positive interactions within the healthcare setting.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct cleaning tasks across designated areas using approved chemicals and techniques, adhering to a 10 Step Cleaning process and daily duty checklist.
• Engage with patients positively while performing cleaning duties to enhance patient experience.
• Perform floor care duties when qualified, including burnishing, scrubbing, recoating, stripping, refinishing, and bonneting floors.
• Manage linen supplies by maintaining proper inventory levels, restocking carts, and ensuring timely and accurate distribution to hospital units and other departments.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment, storage, and inventory rooms, including dusting, floor mopping, and waste disposal.
• Report required maintenance or repair needs promptly to supervisory staff.
• Follow all hospital and departmental policies, including EPIC system protocols.
• Collaborate professionally with medical staff, nursing teams, materials management, and environmental services.
• Complete additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• High School Diploma or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
• Demonstrated accountability, reliability, and confidentiality in work tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and active listening skills.
• Excellent customer service approach toward patients and hospital staff.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

• Capable of medium physical labor, occasionally exerting up to 50 pounds of force.
• Abilities frequently required include standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, grasping, reaching, repetitive motion, and visual acuity.
• May occasionally perform activities like balancing, climbing, crouching, kneeling, and typing.
• Exposure to occasional bodily fluids, bloodborne pathogens, burns, electrical hazards, and frequent contact with chemicals and mechanical equipment.
• Work environment may involve exposure to extremes in temperature, noise, vibration, humidity, dust, fumes, gases, mists, and odors.

Additional Details

• No travel obligations required for this role.
• Adherence to department policies and efficient use of technology such as iPads for inventory and linen management.

• Hourly salary ranges from $16.98 to $25.47 depending on qualifications and experience.
