Job Overview

The Room Attendant is an integral part of the hospitality team, responsible for upholding cleanliness, maintaining order, and creating a welcoming environment in guest rooms, public areas, and other assigned locations, with the goal of enhancing guest satisfaction and delivering a positive experience.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and organize guest rooms according to established guidelines, including dusting, vacuuming, changing linens, and making beds.
  • Sanitize bathrooms thoroughly, covering fixtures, surfaces, and amenities.
  • Wipe and dust furniture, surfaces, and decorative elements in guest rooms and communal areas.
  • Replenish guest room supplies such as toiletries, towels, and linens.
  • Empty trash bins and replace liners both in guest rooms and common spaces.
  • Perform floor care by sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors in guestrooms, hallways, and shared areas.
  • Identify and report maintenance or repair needs to the designated team.
  • Monitor and report any lost items found within guest rooms or public areas to supervisors.
  • Engage courteously and professionally with guests, addressing their requests and questions as required.
  • Respect guest privacy and ensure security by adhering to established policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Prior housekeeping experience or similar roles is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and comprehensive knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Capability to work independently and efficiently to complete room assignments and organize housekeeping carts.
  • Effective communication skills for guest and team interaction.
  • Basic awareness of safety and sanitation standards.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

This role involves significant physical activity such as prolonged standing and walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Tasks are typically performed indoors within hotel facilities, sometimes involving use of equipment and machinery. Exposure to conditions such as varying temperatures, chemicals, dust, odors, fumes, noise, and other hazards necessitates adherence to safety protocols and usage of protective gear.
