About the Role
The Hotel General Manager position is based at the Clarion Pointe Hotel in St. Vital, Winnipeg, part of a family-owned hospitality group managing multiple branded hotels and businesses across Winnipeg and beyond. This establishment includes the boutique hotel itself alongside Tapp’s Neighbourhood Pub – a busy sports-pub seating over 300 guests with a VLT lounge – and Cold Beer Market, all functioning under one roof. This opportunity involves operating a complex, high-traffic property combining hospitality, dining, and entertainment.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full operational charge of the Clarion Pointe property including the hotel, Tapp’s Neighbourhood Pub, Cold Beer Market, and a portfolio of commercial tenants, ensuring all departments run profitably while delivering excellent service.
- Lead and mentor department managers spanning accounting, front desk, bar operations, and the beer store, cultivating a culture centered on accountability, service quality, and continuous growth.
- Manage the financial health of the entire property by developing budgets, forecasting revenues, controlling expenses, and providing regular performance updates to ownership, aiming to enhance profitability across all services.
- Maintain and elevate standards related to food, beverage, and guest satisfaction by monitoring and auditing services in the pub, restaurant, hotel, and through vendor relationships, driving initiatives for ongoing improvements.
- Oversee human resources functions including recruitment, onboarding, staff training, scheduling, performance management, coaching, and disciplinary measures, creating an environment supporting team success and leadership.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and licensing regulations to maintain a secure and well-regulated environment for customers, employees, and tenants alike.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of five years of advancing management experience in food and beverage sectors within hospitality.
- Background working in corporate or branded full-service hotels or restaurant chains with familiarity in corporate policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
- Proven expertise in budget management and revenue forecasting for complex multi-department hospitality operations.
- An energetic, hands-on leader comfortable in fast-moving, high-volume settings, willing to invest the necessary time and presence for success.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, combined with strong interpersonal abilities to foster lasting relationships with guests, employees, and ownership.
- Knowledge of the Winnipeg hospitality market and Manitoba’s commission-based beer store system considered advantageous; a post-secondary credential in Restaurant & Hospitality Management is beneficial but not mandatory.
