Job description
Role Overview
This position involves operation and upkeep of over 800 HVAC units including various types such as package, duct split, ceiling cassette, freestanding, split, window, VRF, and chillers, specifically servicing critical facilities at the Ministry of Interior, Doha, Qatar.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventive maintenance to achieve high equipment uptime and reduce breakdown incidents.
- Maintain air handling units (AHU), fan coil units (FCU), air distribution mechanisms, exhaust fans, ventilation systems, variable air volume (VAV) actuators, and damper valves.
- Repair refrigerant leaks in condensers and evaporators, replace compressors, contactors, controllers, and condenser motors as required.
- Troubleshoot shutdowns, calibrate digital thermostats, clean coils, and optimize airflow balance in multi-zone settings.
- Perform motor greasing, bearing replacements, belt alignments, overhauling, and programming of advanced HVAC controls.
- Interpret complex wiring diagrams and recover refrigerants in compliance with environmental safety standards, maintaining zero safety incidents.
- Maintain accurate records including confidential logbooks, service reports, spare parts inventories, preventive maintenance schedules, filter cleanings, and coil washings.
Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma in Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering or equivalent technical certification.
- Strong troubleshooting capabilities for mechanical and control systems related to HVAC.
- Practical plumbing knowledge relevant to HVAC, including handling piping, drainage, and water supply systems.
- Experience with preventive maintenance planning, inspection, and documentation procedures.
- Familiarity with EPA or equivalent standards for refrigerants and HVAC safety regulations.
- Electrical skills including handling wiring, motors, control panels, and performing electrical diagnostics safely.
- Beneficial to have experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial and institutional HVAC systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and plans following safety and Ministry of Interior protocols.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
