About the Role and School
Polaris Education - The Wirral School is a new, inclusive institution designed to support up to 42 pupils aged 5 to 18 with complex special educational needs (SEN). Located in the Wirral, the school prioritizes a nurturing environment where academic progress goes hand-in-hand with emotional wellbeing and personal growth. This reflects the wider Polaris Community ethos, which has been enhancing educational outcomes for over 30 years, with all schools rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted.
The Head Teacher will serve as a compassionate, dedicated leader responsible for building a new team and guiding the school’s educational direction, aligned with our principles of inclusion, personalised learning, and holistic student development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide inspirational educational leadership, crafting and executing a vision that embodies compassion and inclusion while ensuring compliance with Independent School Standards and the Education Inspection Framework.
- Serve as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, managing safeguarding processes, reporting concerns effectively, and fostering a strong safeguarding culture in partnership with relevant authorities.
- Adapt and develop a curriculum tailored to the varied needs of pupils, promoting engaging and meaningful learning experiences that prepare students for future transitions.
- Champion pastoral care emphasizing emotional and mental health, advocating for SEN students' rights and supporting their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Support staff growth through mentorship and promote a collaborative, empowering team environment.
- Establish and maintain strong connections with parents, carers, and external partners to build an integrated support network benefiting the school community.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience in primary or secondary education.
- Possession of a relevant first degree and optionally the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).
- Experience working with SEN pupils and a comprehensive understanding of their specific needs.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with skills in motivating and inspiring teams.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Contract Type: Full-time, term time only.
- Salary Range: £50,000 to £60,000 annually, dependent on experience.
- Location: Wirral, England.
- Anticipated start date: April 2027.
