Job description
Position Overview
We are seeking an accomplished Head of Cyber Security to lead and enhance the cyber security framework of a prominent Australian organisation. This senior leadership role is based in Brisbane or Gold Coast and is a full-time, office-based position. The role combines strategic planning with operational oversight across a broad and complex environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and drive the cyber security strategy and roadmap.
- Oversee security operations and handle incident response.
- Manage governance, risk, and compliance related to cyber security.
- Ensure cyber resilience and maintain business continuity.
- Lead identity and access management efforts.
- Design and maintain security architecture and controls.
- Address risks associated with third-party vendors and supply chains.
- Promote security awareness and cultivate a strong security culture throughout the organisation.
- Engage with executive and senior stakeholders to communicate cyber risks and initiatives.
- Lead and develop the cyber security function and team members.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates are those with considerable experience in senior cyber security roles such as Head of Cyber Security, Head of Information Security, Deputy CISO, or Senior Cyber Security Manager. Preference will be given to professionals who have operated in large, complex, or highly regulated sectors, especially those managing significant volumes of confidential or personal data.
The role demands both strategic outlook and operational expertise. The candidate should possess substantial technical knowledge to credibly lead cyber security specialists, while also effectively communicating cyber risks in business terms to executive leadership.
