Job Overview
As a Hatchery Maintenance Technician under the guidance of the Hatchery Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining the hatchery facilities and supporting the automation equipment involved in the poult hatching process.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair machinery and equipment used in hatchery operations.
- Employ a variety of tools such as forklifts, welding gear, electric drills/meters, wrenches, and screwdrivers effectively.
- Conduct troubleshooting and problem-solving to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
- Adhere strictly to company policies regarding biosecurity, animal welfare, and workplace safety.
- Demonstrate safe working practices and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Required Qualifications and Attributes
- Basic knowledge about machinery operation and repair diagnostics.
- Experience with commercial maintenance is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Must maintain strong attendance and punctuality, showing commitment to teamwork and consistent work output.
- Good hand-eye coordination and physical fitness are essential due to constant movement and lifting objects weighing up to 60 lbs.
- Ability to work in environments exposed to dust, chemicals, fumes, extreme weather, and live animals.
- Must possess reliable transportation and a valid driver's license, as errands for materials may be required.
Work Hours and Conditions
- Schedule: Four days on followed by four days off, with rotating shifts requiring flexibility.
- Night shifts from 6 PM to 6 AM; training shifts are Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM.
- Holiday work may be required, compensated with holiday pay.
Compliance and Eligibility
- Authorized to work in the United States (participates in E-Verify).
- Must pass a background check and a pre-employment drug screening.
- Possession of a valid driver's license is mandatory.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly wage between $19.23 and $21.13 depending on experience.
