Handyperson / Planned Preventative Maintenance Technician

About the Role

Join Hilton as a Handyperson / Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) Technician in Queenstown, Otago. This role plays a key part in supporting the Engineering Department by performing general maintenance tasks to ensure that hotel equipment, tools, and working areas remain in excellent condition. Beyond maintenance, you will contribute to delivering inviting and memorable guest experiences that embody the spirit of hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily general maintenance activities throughout the hotel premises.
• Promptly respond to maintenance requests and handle emergency calls as they arise.
• Carry out routine inspection rounds to verify the functionality of all equipment.
• Execute painting and decorating jobs as assigned.
• Collaborate closely with the Engineering Team on ongoing projects and scheduled tasks.
• Ensure tools, equipment, and workspaces are well-maintained and orderly.
• Comply with all Health & Safety policies applicable to the Department and hotel.
• Deliver outstanding customer service when interacting with guests.
• Conduct mechanical maintenance on company vehicles.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Chief Engineer to support smooth hotel operations.

Required Qualifications and Attributes

• Prior experience in maintenance, ideally within a hotel or similarly varied environment.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Proven all-around maintenance skills across multiple tasks.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Capability to manage time well and meet established deadlines without close supervision.
• A solid work ethic and proactive approach to diverse tasks and projects.
