Role Overview
Are you eager to join an energetic team focused on daily interactions with people and hands-on upkeep of assets? If you’re sociable, efficient at completing tasks, and comfortable both collaborating and working solo, this opportunity might suit you perfectly.
The handyperson will be responsible for maintaining apartments, communal areas, and building exteriors, while also supporting resident welfare alongside a committed team in a residential setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance tasks on student apartments, shared spaces, and building exteriors, overseeing the soft facilities needs of the property.
- Carry out general repair works including lighting inspections and replacements, minor painting and plastering fixes, as well as small carpentry and plumbing repairs within the premises.
- Adhere to procedures and standards for operational areas to ensure resource efficiency.
- Ensure maintenance, safety, and security standards are maintained at the highest level consistently.
- Follow company health and safety policies and comply with relevant industry and statutory regulations.
- Inform the manager about tasks requiring external contractors and obtain necessary approvals.
- Provide professional and effective assistance to residents and visitors.
- Maintain clear communication with staff members and contractors.
- Build and sustain positive working relationships with contractors.
- Be physically capable of moving and rearranging soft furnishings as required.
- Demonstrate flexibility in availability to assist with major emergency situations outside regular hours if requested.
Candidate Profile
Ideal applicants will display a positive, can-do mindset and confidence to operate independently and within teams. Experience in student accommodation, real estate, or hospitality is preferred; however, quick learners are welcome to apply. Candidates should prioritize safety, understand basic occupational health and safety principles, and be familiar with chemical handling.
Mandatory Criteria
- Possession of valid Australian work rights.
- Completion of a National Police Check.
- Availability of a Working with Children Check.
- Commitment to a full-time schedule of 38 hours per week.
- Holds a current Australian driver's license and has access to a reliable vehicle.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain these qualifications.
