Job Overview
This position supports the engineering team in maintaining building facilities by conducting routine, straightforward repairs and upkeep tasks. The primary focus is reliable facility maintenance, basic repairs, cleanliness, and delivering prompt customer service, without engaging in advanced troubleshooting or specialized diagnostics.
Key Responsibilities
- Support preventive maintenance tasks, inspections, and standard work orders alongside the engineering staff.
- Carry out elementary lighting tasks, such as replacing bulbs and accessible fixtures within training scope.
- Handle minor plumbing and restroom issues like fixture adjustments, clearing blockages, and simple part replacements.
- Perform handyman duties including patching walls, painting, caulking, replacing ceiling tiles, and minor structural fixes.
- Manage inventory of supplies, parts, and tools efficiently.
- Assist when outside contractors undertake repair or maintenance jobs.
- Keep work and mechanical areas organized and tidy.
- Always use appropriate safety gear and work following safety procedures.
- Comply with facility policies and partake in mandatory safety and technical trainings.
- Be prepared to work occasional overtime or weekends as required.
Qualifications
- Preferably holds a high school diploma or GED.
- At least one year experience in maintenance, handyman tasks, construction, or related fields is preferred.
- Comfortable using smartphones and mobile technology.
- Ability to adhere to instructions, collaborate within a team, and deliver good customer service.
Skills and Attributes
- Dependable with a strong commitment to safety in everyday facility tasks.
- Positive and cooperative team player eager to learn and grow.
- Capable of identifying issues needing complex troubleshooting or licensed professional intervention and escalating them appropriately.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk extensive distances as part of job duties.
- Regularly able to lift or move weights up to 50 pounds; occasionally up to 100 pounds.
