About the Role and Workplace

Constance Hotels & Resorts is recruiting a Handyman at their location in Plaine Magnien, Mauritius, situated along the pristine south-eastern coast. The resort offers a tranquil, natural environment combining modern architecture and scenic ocean views, designed to inspire peace and calm. Key Responsibilities

• Comply fully with Occupational Safety & Health regulations, local safety codes, and internal security policies by adhering to safe working methods and precautionary measures.
• Review tasks by consulting the Log book and communicate required tools and equipment needs to Maintenance Manager Assistants.
• Conduct thorough inspections before room arrivals to ensure readiness.
• Carry out repairs and maintenance under Maintenance Assistant Managers' directions.
• Woodwork duties including replacement of defective wood parts, gluing partitions, scraping, polishing, fixing table legs, and re-varnishing surfaces.
• Door and window repairs involving polishing with planning machines, removal if inaccessible, adjustment, sanding, reinstallation of handles, lubrication of hinges, and overall restoration.
• Plumbing tasks such as replacing tap garnishes, fabricating joints when spares are unavailable, fitting shower and sink components, repairing toilet handles, replacing or fixing toilet tank parts, and unblocking sinks, toilets, showers, and pipes.
• Masonry work including rough-casting wall cracks, re-setting tiles in public and private areas, and bricklaying for walkways.
• Painting duties involving touch-ups around premises, mixing paints to achieve required hues, and varnishing wood furniture to remove stains.
• General cleaning responsibilities, including roof cleaning per scheduled plans, and drain cleaning upon management request.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Minimum Middle or Secondary School completion; additional training or certifications in relevant trades advantageous.
• Experience: At least one year working within the hotel industry, with preference for those experienced in luxury resort environments.

Technical Competencies & Personal Skills

• Solid proficiency in plumbing and electrical system maintenance.
• Competence in operating hardware tools and power equipment.
• Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills, fluent in English or another language; additional language proficiency is a plus.
