Job description
Role Overview
The Handy Person position at Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing offers an exceptional opportunity to positively impact the lives of vulnerable community members, including elderly and disabled individuals. This role involves delivering prompt and small-scale repair services across various housing tenures, following strict compliance with company policies and Health & Safety law.
Key Duties
- Programming, installing, and maintaining Community Alarm and Assistive Technology devices while thoroughly instructing customers on their operation.
- Performing Home Fire Safety Checks and fitting smoke detectors as directed by the Fire and Rescue Service.
- Fitting equipment for Domestic Violence victims provided through the Community Safety partnership.
- Working jointly with local councils and partner organizations on diverse projects.
- Following Fire & Rescue Service guidelines for vehicle operation, including maintaining accurate mileage logs.
- Managing Trade Card use responsibly.
- Spotting improvement opportunities, implementing enhancements, and delivering feedback.
- Cooperating with team members to boost service quality and efficiency.
Candidate Requirements
- Must possess a full, clean UK driving license.
- Experience and skills gained ideally through a comprehensive craft apprenticeship.
- Capacity to work occasional additional hours as necessary.
- Readiness to participate in ongoing trade and personal development training.
- Established trade background is essential.
Additional Information
In commitment to safety and quality, a Standard level background check via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) will be conducted following a job offer, fully covered by the employer. The employee will be enrolled in the DBS updating service, renewed every three years.
Employment Details
