Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Vaidyakiya Pratishthan (BAVP) is a Public Charitable Trust established in 1988, dedicated to community welfare through over 50 social initiatives. It is managed by committed medical professionals and has provided medical aid to over 7 million underprivileged patients. BAVP operates under the vision of delivering excellent, evolving, transparent medical and social services with a human touch, inspired by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

Starting in 1989 with a small 10-bed hospital staffed by doctors accepting minimal incomes, the organization has expanded significantly. Its flagship, Dr. Hedgewar Hospital in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra, offers secondary and tertiary care across multiple districts. BAVP also runs numerous programs including a large blood bank, slum and rural health projects, and women and child development initiatives.

The trust manages 300-bed hospitals in Assam and Nashik, with a new 200-bed super specialty hospital under development in Ranchi. Notable personalities have praised BAVP's contributions to healthcare.

Position Overview

The Group IT Head for Software, Applications, and Data Governance leads the architecture and management of software, clinical applications, and data security across a network of hospitals totaling more than 1,450 beds. The position operates from Dr. Hedgewar Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, reporting to the Medical Director/CEO. Responsibilities include overseeing enterprise software suites, developing digital clinical and administrative workflows, ensuring data privacy and regulatory compliance, and collaborating closely with the IT hardware and infrastructure teams to optimize technical operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, standardize, and govern core software platforms such as HIS, EMR, LIS, RIS/PACS, pharmacy, blood bank systems, ERP, and HRMS across all facilities.
• Create clinical and administrative workflows that enhance productivity, reduce cognitive burdens on medical staff, and address documentation delays.
• Manage software roadmaps for existing and new hospital units, defining specifications, data dictionaries, workflows, and preparation for software rollout.
• Supervise change requests, software releases, patch management, and user acceptance testing procedures.
• Develop and enforce data protection policies aligned with DPDP Act, NABH Digital Health standards, ABDM milestones, and ISO 27001 control requirements.
• Implement role-based access control, multi-factor authentication, and audit logging to secure medical records and data integrity.
• Conduct regular security and compliance audits across all hospital units, including vulnerability assessments and privilege reviews.
• Design disaster recovery processes, including automated backups and failover verification protocols.
• Collaborate with IT hardware managers to optimize compute, storage, and network configurations for data-intensive applications.
• Coordinate high-availability architectures, virtual machine allocation, failover testing, and endpoint software settings.
• Integrate software security measures with hardware firewalls, DMZ configurations, network segmentation, and edge devices.
• Ensure interoperability by linking biomedical equipment with central hospital systems using HL7, FHIR, and DICOM standards.
• Manage secure integration with third-party services like payment gateways, national health insurance schemes, TPA portals, messaging systems, and queue management.
• Establish enterprise data warehouses and pipelines to aggregate operational, financial, and clinical data from all hospital sites.
• Produce automated real-time dashboards and key performance indicators to support hospital leadership's operational and clinical decisions.
• Facilitate self-service data queries for audits, clinical monitoring, research, and management purposes.
• Lead vendor relationships ensuring SLA adherence related to bug fixes, feature updates, and system availability.
• Drive digital change management and provide regular training for clinical, nursing, paramedical, and billing teams to boost software utilization.
• Aim to achieve paperless operations across locations within 2-3 years through coordinated IT systems integration and training.
• Mentor unit-level leads, application engineers, and database administrators across the various hospital locations.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

• Educational background in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or a related field with a B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech/MCA degree.
• Between 10 and 15 years of progressive experience in enterprise software management and database architecture.
• Minimum of 4 to 6 years of leadership experience in software applications and data governance within multispecialty hospitals with over 300 beds.
• Preferred technical certifications include CISM, CISSP, CISA, PMP/PRINCE2, ITIL Foundation, Certified Health CIO (CHCIO), and HL7-FHIR.
• Strong domain knowledge of HIS/EMR architecture, HL7/FHIR protocols, DICOM frameworks, SQL/NoSQL tuning, ABDM integrations, DPDP Act compliance, NABH digital standards, and BI tools like Power BI or Tableau.
• Core skills encompass software architecture, data security audits, clinical informatics, process redesign, vendor SLA oversight, and cross-functional leadership.
• Preparedness for periodic travel to Nashik, Sivasagar, and Ranchi for deployments and related activities.
