Position Overview

Our client, a prominent main contractor in the UAE, is in search of a seasoned and commercially astute Finance Director. This key leadership role involves managing the financial department and supporting the expansion of the business through strategic financial guidance across diverse units and large infrastructure projects in the UAE. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Finance Director will ensure sound financial governance, drive profitability, oversee cash flow management, and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.

Core Duties

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing finance team while providing strategic financial direction.
  • Design and execute financial plans that align with the company’s long-term goals.
  • Supervise financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting activities.
  • Prepare and present precise monthly and yearly financial statements, board-level reports, and comprehensive financial analyses.
  • Manage company cash flow, working capital, banking relationships, and capital funding requirements.
  • Evaluate project financial results, including revenue recognition, profitability, cost control, and forecasts.
  • Collaborate with Commercial, Operations, Procurement, and Project teams to improve project margins and financial success.
  • Oversee financial risk management, internal controls, and ensure corporate governance.
  • Guarantee compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), local laws, tax obligations, and statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate external audits and maintain productive relationships with auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide financial insight for contract assessments, commercial negotiations, joint ventures, and investment decisions.
  • Identify and implement enhancements in financial processes, reporting tools, automation, and operational efficiencies.
  • Support the company’s growth strategies, acquisitions, and key strategic initiatives through financial expertise.

Candidate Profile

  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Possesses a professional accounting credential such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or CMA.
  • Brings at least 15 years of progressive finance experience especially in senior leadership roles within construction or contracting sectors.
  • Has demonstrated experience working with large main contractors in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction accounting, project finance, revenue recognition, cost control, and contract management.
  • Experience overseeing multi-billion AED project portfolios and handling complex financial operations.
  • Advanced understanding of IFRS, financial governance standards, taxation, and statutory compliance.
  • Strong skills in financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience managing and developing finance departments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the capability to influence decisions at executive levels.
  • Familiarity with ERP software such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms tailored for construction finance management.
