Groundskeeper

Overview

The Groundskeeper role involves carrying out various tasks related to landscaping, grounds upkeep, and where relevant, snow removal. The primary responsibility is to mow lawns, manage weeds, plant flowers, plow snow, and clear debris to maintain a clean, attractive, and well-kept community environment. Additionally, Groundskeepers contribute to a positive experience for residents by providing polite and responsive customer support.

Key Responsibilities

• Keep the community appearance consistently appealing and aligned with Sun's curb appeal standards.
• Perform routine maintenance on community vehicles and landscaping equipment.
• Regularly collect trash and debris from common areas and streets; empty trash receptacles as necessary.
• Conduct frequent irrigation system checks for proper operation and perform repairs as needed.
• Apply weed control treatments, trim vegetation, rake leaves, plant flowers and shrubs, spread mulch or stones, prune damaged tree limbs, and provide other lawn care services.
• Maintain swimming pool chemical balance and adjustments if within job scope.
• Adhere strictly to safety procedures during all job functions.
• Report any maintenance issues or concerns detected during routine duties to management.
• Drive community vehicles safely to complete tasks including waste collection, equipment transport, and landscaping duties across the property and nearby locations.
• Perform additional tasks or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• Preferred: At least six months of groundskeeping experience in apartment or manufactured housing settings.
• Minimum six months of demonstrated knowledge and experience with general grounds maintenance practices.
• Capability to work outdoors in varying temperature conditions.
• Availability to respond to business demands after hours and work on-call when required.
• Basic computer skills including familiarity with email and internet usage.
• Valid driver's license mandatory.
• Ability to work well independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Proficiency operating hand tools, power equipment, and commercial landscaping machinery.

Compensation

The position offers a pay rate of $21 per hour.
