About the Role
Ventia, in collaboration with the Australian Defence Force, is recruiting multiple Grounds Persons to join the Land Management team at RAAF Curtin, located in remote Western Australia. This position involves performing daily grounds maintenance under the guidance of the Grounds Supervisor to ensure safe, efficient, and effective upkeep of land and outdoor areas across several military bases.
Key Responsibilities
- Propagate, plant, and assist in revegetating various landscapes.
- Carry out general grounds duties including debris and rubbish removal, cleaning outdoor features and hardstand areas, line marking, and managing injured or deceased wildlife.
- Perform mulching, pruning, hedging, turf care, pest control, and the application of chemicals and fertilizers.
- Operate and maintain machinery and equipment such as mowers, tractors, small plants, and hand tools, following maintenance schedules and operators' manuals.
- Work flexibly across all bases depending on operational requirements as directed by the supervisor.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum one year of experience in a related grounds or horticulture role.
- Proven ability to operate and maintain plant and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Familiarity with manual handling procedures and environmental management systems.
- Certificate in Horticulture or similar qualification is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Effective team player with strong communication skills, including confident use of radio communication for safety reporting within an aerodrome environment.
- Must be an Australian citizen eligible for Defence Security Clearance and willing to undergo and maintain an Australian Federal Police Check.
