Overview
The Grocery Associate role at Walmart Canada offers a valuable chance to gain skills in a fast-moving retail setting. This position focuses on delivering outstanding customer service by embodying Walmart’s core values, maintaining a clean, orderly, and well-arranged grocery section, while supporting stocking and sales efforts. As a team member, you help keep the store customer-ready and contribute to a positive shopping experience.
Key Duties
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper zoning of the grocery department to ensure readiness for customers at all times.
- Regularly rotate stock and remove expired or damaged products to uphold freshness and quality.
- Ensure correct pricing and signage of merchandise, adhering to protocols for ordering, markdowns, clearance, flagging, and labeling.
- Follow food safety, handling, sanitation, and cleaning procedures to sustain a safe and hygienic workplace.
- Fully stock the department by replenishing merchandise, completing downstocking when needed, applying product protection, and organizing modular displays including flexible modulars and new shelf caps.
- Comply with health and safety policies to maintain a hazard-free environment.
- Adapt to varied work schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business demands.
Challenges
- Manage high task volumes efficiently in a fast-paced environment, particularly during overnight shifts, maintaining focus and energy.
- Handle physically demanding tasks such as standing for long periods, bending, and lifting items up to 20 lbs regularly or up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Perform repetitive duties like stocking, zoning, and organizing with attention to detail and consistency.
