Role Overview

The Grinder / Threadmill Operator will manually operate machinery including cylindrical shaft grinders and threadmills, with responsibilities extending to dressing screwsets and inspecting finished components to uphold process standards. Compliance with health and safety regulations related to machinery use is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate threadmill machines and additional machinery introduced over time.
• Deburr screwsets and coordinate matching of idlers and rotors.
• Manage cylindrical grinders and small surface grinders efficiently.
• Update and review machine setups, SOPs, and work methods.
• Gain proficiency in various manual machines such as drills, mills, and broaches to enhance operational flexibility.
• Conduct quality assurance inspections aligning with technical drawings and specifications.
• Maintain equipment efficiency documentation.
• Carry out safety protocols and housekeeping tasks consistently.
• Execute machine setup and daily maintenance including preventive tasks.
• Engage in Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) activities, including risk evaluations within manufacturing.
• Contribute to Continuous Improvement initiatives targeting operational enhancements.
• Participate in ongoing training and facilitate learning for peers and apprentices.
• Support quality system implementation and advancement.
• Work across various departments as required.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Formal qualifications or apprenticeship in material removal processes such as turning, cylindrical grinding, and milling.
• Completion of a time-served manufacturing apprenticeship, with experience in NC / HMC or equivalent.
• Expertise in interpreting manufacturing drawings and understanding related processes.
• Strong numeracy and mathematical competence.
• Capability to operate manual machinery including jib cranes.
