About the Role and Organization
The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), operating within the healthcare sector, is seeking a Grants Management Officer based in Nairobi. This position is designed for entry-level candidates holding a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences, Medical Science, Social Sciences or other related fields. The role calls for contributing to the resource mobilization efforts by supporting grant application processes and maintaining donor relations.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and research potential funding avenues from donors, foundations, development partners, and other agencies.
- Support the drafting, reviewing, and submission of concept notes, expressions of interest, grant applications, and funding proposals in partnership with researchers and relevant teams.
- Maintain communication channels and relationships with existing and prospective donors, partners, and research institutions.
- Manage and update records and databases related to funding opportunities, proposals, decisions, correspondence, and partnerships.
- Assist in compiling institutional data, preparing proposal budgets, and ensuring proposals meet donor and organizational requirements.
- Monitor timelines for proposal submissions, funding deadlines, donor responses, and follow up on pending applications.
- Help prepare periodic reports on resource mobilization activities including funding prospects, proposals, and secured finances.
- Provide logistical and administrative support including meeting scheduling, report preparation, and correspondence management.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences, Medical Science, Social Sciences, or another relevant discipline from an accredited institution.
- Proficient computer skills with familiarity in digital tools.
- Strong planning, communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well in team settings.
