Graduate Opportunity
As a graduate, you will be immersed in professional practice from the beginning. Following comprehensive training and induction, you will gain hands-on experience in the field developing essential skills foundational to our work. Senior specialists will guide you to accelerate your career progression. Exposure to entire project lifecycles will ensure you build technical, practical, and project management skills quickly, enabling you to lead projects independently within 3 to 4 years. Unlike larger firms, you won’t be restricted to limited tasks or isolated departments during your initial year.
Role Location
The Tauranga team is currently recruiting a Graduate Engineering Geologist to join their onsite operations.
Typical Daily Activities
- Conducting manual site work including field testing and logging of rock and soil boreholes
- Performing hand auger drilling and monitoring machine excavated test pits
- Observing construction site activities such as piling, retaining wall installation, and ground improvement techniques
- Documenting and processing sample data, writing technical reports, and supporting project managers with deliverables when working in the office
- Participating in diverse projects across multiple regions, such as communicating design specifics to contractors on housing developments, supervising piling at windfarm constructions, and carrying out field tests like CPT, dynamic cone penetration, and infiltration testing
Candidate Requirements
- Degree in Geology or Earth Science
- Physically capable of performing demanding fieldwork
- Willingness to travel as needed
- Possession of a valid New Zealand or Australian driver's license
- Passion for outdoor work and interest in geological materials such as soil and rock
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication abilities, both written and verbal
