Role Overview

The Grade 1 Maintenance Technician will support semiconductor industry operations by conducting preventative and corrective maintenance on vacuum pumps, pump integration racks, gas abatement systems, and line heater equipment. The role involves working in a shift-based team to ensure equipment reliability and uptime through inspections, component changes, and repairs following strict technical, environmental, and health and safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute routine preventative maintenance on semiconductor equipment such as vacuum pumps and gas abatement systems.
• Assist with repair tasks, component replacements, and corrective maintenance as needed.
• Perform regular inspections of equipment to detect wear, damage, or faults early.
• Support troubleshooting activities under expert guidance to diagnose issues.
• Adhere closely to approved maintenance procedures, technical requirements, and equipment specifications.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and health standards, including following isolation and lockout/tagout protocols.
• Keep precise records of all maintenance work, equipment status, and parts usage within maintenance management systems.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment.
• Communicate status updates and issues clearly during shift changes.
• Engage in ongoing technical training and continuous process improvements.
• Contribute to team goals aimed at maximising equipment availability, reliability, and performance.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possess a QQI Level 6 qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Maintenance Engineering, or a comparable technical field; or have 1-2 years of relevant experience in equipment maintenance or technical service roles.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical equipment and maintenance fundamentals.
• Capability to interpret technical documents, drawings, and maintenance manuals.
• Effective communication, cooperative teamwork, and good organisational skills.
• A strong eagerness to expand technical troubleshooting expertise.
• Availability to work a rotating 12-hour continental shift schedule, covering day and night shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the semiconductor manufacturing industry.
• Familiarity with vacuum pumps, vacuum technology, gas abatement, or related support systems.
• Proficiency with computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Knowledge and practice of industrial health, safety, and environmental protocols.
