About the Role
Join Just Eat Takeaway.com (JET), a leading global online food delivery platform that connects millions of customers with partners worldwide. Our mission is to enrich every food moment, whether through customer service, development, or delivery operations.
The Golang Engineer position is crucial in integrating Grocery Partners with the JET platform. This mid-level role offers a path to senior positions and focuses on advancing our integration infrastructure while maintaining core systems relied upon by thousands of partners.
Technical Environment
The primary technology stack centers on Golang for building event-driven microservices. Daily work involves Kafka messaging systems, AWS services like DynamoDB and S3, monitoring with Datadog and Grafana, all running in Kubernetes environments. Prior experience with these technologies will help you ramp up quickly, though it is not required to have mastery over all at day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new features using Golang.
- Engage in architectural discussions and contribute to platform evolution.
- Collaborate with product and delivery teams to support project goals.
- Learn from senior team members and disseminate acquired knowledge within the team.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in backend engineering with at least 1+ year of production Go development, or 2+ years in another modern backend language along with the ability to quickly learn Go.
- Strong understanding of Go fundamentals including concurrency, error handling, and interfaces.
- Familiarity with microservices and event-driven system design.
- Proven track record of independently building and maintaining production services, including monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Experience practicing Test-Driven Development (TDD).
- Curious, responsible, and self-driven attitude.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Comfortable with AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code and Kiro, balancing AI use with personal engineering judgment and accountability for shipped code.
- Experience with pair programming.
- Exposure to Kubernetes or comparable container orchestration platforms is a plus.
Company Culture and Values
JET offers a vibrant, fast-paced, and supportive working environment recognizing individual growth and contributions. Our inclusive culture embraces diversity in all its forms and fosters a sense of belonging, allowing employees to bring their authentic selves to work.
