Job description

Role Overview

Viable Solutions is recruiting a seasoned Golang Backend Developer responsible for architecting, creating, and maintaining robust backend services and APIs optimized for high throughput. This role focuses on constructing scalable, concurrent, cloud-native Go applications suitable for production environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build efficient backend services and microservices leveraging Go.
  • Develop and sustain RESTful and gRPC based APIs.
  • Implement concurrency paradigms with goroutines, channels, and interfaces in Go.
  • Optimize and manage interactions with both relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Incorporate message broker systems such as Kafka, NATS, or RabbitMQ into services.
  • Containerize Go applications and deploy them via Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Create thorough unit and integration tests using Go's testing tools.
  • Perform code reviews to uphold high-quality code standards.
  • Work collaboratively within Agile teams alongside various stakeholders.

Required Skills and Expertise

  • At least 5 years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years dedicated to Go programming.
  • Advanced knowledge of idiomatic Go including goroutines, channels, interfaces, and error handling.
  • Proven capabilities in building production REST and gRPC APIs.
  • Solid comprehension of microservices design and distributed system concepts.
  • Experience with Go web frameworks like Gin, Echo, Fiber, or Chi.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL with PostgreSQL or MySQL in live environments.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Redis, or DynamoDB.
  • Hands-on ability with Docker containerization and Kubernetes orchestration.
  • Experience deploying on AWS services including EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, or Fargate.
  • Understanding of API security techniques like OAuth 2.0, JWT, and OpenID Connect.
  • Experience managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions or Jenkins.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working with gRPC and Protocol Buffers.
  • Knowledge of NATS or Kafka Streams for event-driven architectures.
  • Exposure to distributed tracing frameworks like OpenTelemetry.
  • Familiarity with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code implementations.
  • Participation in open-source Go projects is a plus.

Educational Background

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or similar fields.
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Developer - Associate and Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) are advantageous.
