About the Role
SymphonyAI, a pioneering enterprise AI SaaS company focusing on digital transformation across key industries such as retail, consumer goods, financial crime prevention, manufacturing, media, and IT, is seeking a diligent and proactive Global Payroll Specialist. Established in 2017, the company supports over 2,000 enterprise clients worldwide with a diverse team of 2,500 professionals in more than 30 countries.
This role involves managing payroll operations across a wide international scope including EMEA, APAC, and North America regions. It offers the chance to contribute to operational excellence while driving project and transformation efforts in a dynamic, fast-evolving workplace. The position is crucial in helping develop a modern global payroll function, engaging with multiple systems, service providers, and initiatives of large scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end payroll activities in various global jurisdictions ensuring compliance, precision, and internal control adherence.
- Validate and reconcile payroll outcomes including taxation, statutory deductions, benefits, and related functions.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and external payroll partners to guarantee integrated and smooth payroll processes.
- Stay informed about payroll laws, compliance mandates, and best practices applicable to the locations managed.
- Enhance payroll governance, controls, audit preparedness, and standardization of procedures.
- Serve as a primary contact for payroll inquiries providing comprehensive support to employees and stakeholders worldwide.
- Work alongside external payroll vendors to oversee service quality, resolve issues, and champion continuous improvements.
- Participate in payroll-centric projects such as transitions, process enhancement, systems integrations, acquisitions, and transformation programs.
- Create and update payroll process documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge bases.
- Function as the payroll subject matter expert in project teams and assist broader global payroll initiatives as necessary.
Required Skills & Experience
- Extensive operational payroll expertise across multiple countries within a global setting.
- Experience managing outsourced payroll partnerships and collaborating with global payroll providers.
- Knowledge of payroll operations throughout EMEA, APAC, and North America.
- Preferred experience with payroll in India, the United States, and Canada.
- Solid understanding of payroll controls, audit procedures, governance, and compliance requirements.
- Strong problem-solving abilities combined with a proactive mindset for addressing issues.
- Interest and background in applying AI, automation, and technology to optimize payroll functions including reporting and controls.
- Experience developing payroll process designs, documentation, and implementing continuous improvements.
- Capability to juggle multiple priorities in an agile and changing environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with multicultural teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project management and transformation experience within payroll contexts.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance controls.
- Experience handling equity compensation processing.
- Background in mergers, acquisitions, or payroll transition projects.
