Role Overview
We are currently recruiting a Geotechnical Engineer for our Perth office to handle a balanced workload between field investigations and office-based engineering design and analysis. This role involves substantial autonomy, variety, and opportunities to advance your technical expertise and client interaction skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee geotechnical site investigations including borehole logging, in-situ testing, and field mapping.
- Analyze and compile field data to develop geological models and determine engineering design parameters.
- Organize laboratory testing programs.
- Conduct engineering analyses for slope stability, seepage, and settlement using software such as SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, and PLAXIS 3D.
- Perform numerical modeling and geotechnical assessments to inform design decisions.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports and factual interpretations.
- Engage directly with clients on site to translate complex engineering data and recommendations into understandable advice for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to maintain technical quality and efficient project delivery.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering; postgraduate qualifications are a plus.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering within civil or mining sectors.
- Practical knowledge of supervising site investigations, borehole logging, and assessing ground conditions.
- Proficient with engineering software including SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, PLAXIS 3D, and AutoCAD.
- Strong grounding in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and slope stability concepts.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to confidently liaise with clients and convey technical information clearly.
- Advanced report writing and documentation capabilities.
- Willingness and ability to travel both interstate and internationally, including extended site assignments.
